THREE COUNTIES LAUNCH NEW DEPOT WITH AID OF FILPLASTIC

Three Counties Timber and Building Supplies has joined forces with leading racking specialist Filplastic Ltd to launch Hemel Hempstead’s largest independent builders’ merchant depot.

The well-known builders’ merchant appointed Filplastic to complete the design and fit out of its new flagship trade and retail outlet on Mark Road, Hemel Hempstead Industrial Estate.

The five-figure contract saw Filplastic draw up designs for the shop, warehouse and timber yard on the two acre site, as well as supply racking to the entire development.

Filplastic, which is based in Eastrington in East Yorkshire, even ensured the racking was in Three Counties’ corporate colours of black and orange so the new development reflected the growing company’s brand.

Graham Matthews, of Filplastic, said design work had got underway in November last year and they had started installing the racking in early 2015.

The job was completed last month allowing Three Counties to launch its new depot in March, creating six new jobs in the town.

Mr Matthews said: “We have worked for Three Counties Timber and Building Supplies in the past but on smaller jobs so we were absolutely delighted when they appointed us to take on a job of this size.

“We have a very experienced design team who came up with some really innovate solutions and that meant that when we came to install the racking it all fell into place nicely. We supplied and fitted cantilever racking, lintel racking, pigeon-hole racking, vertical racking and shop shelving. That is one of the great advantages of having the design work and fit out carried out by the same company, it means the job tends to run much more smoothly and to time.

“We’re really pleased with the final job. Three Counties is a growing company and we are very proud to be a part of their impressive expansion plans.”

Richard Dawson, managing director of Three Counties Timber and Building Supplies, said the new depot represented the next step in the company’s evolution.

Three Counties started life eight years ago in Bourne End near Hemel Hempstead and has grown to turnover £6.5m across the whole business. The company also has a two-acre depot based in Stoke Road in Aylesbury and is looking to expand further across the region.

Mr Dawson said the new depot looked fantastic and he was delighted with the job Filplastic had done.

“We appointed them to do the designs and they were very professional,” he said. “On the back of that we asked them to supply and fit the racking. The whole job was completed efficiently and to a high standard which enabled us to launch the new depot on time.”

Mr Dawson added the site was much more accessible for trade customers and public alike.

He said: “Our motto has always been local merchants, local values, and the new site certainly feeds into that. It is more centrally based and stocks everything that we know our trade and retail customers require.”

Case Study: Gems TV/Genuine Gemstone Company

We were dazzled when The Genuine Gemstone Company (formerly Gems TV) first came to us for bins. To say that a few ladies in the Filplastic office are regular customers is a bit of an understatement...

Needless to say Filplastic rose to the challenge and supplied thousands of parts bins and small parts drawer units in record time (even without the kind offers to hand deliver them in person by the Filplastic office girls).

Goods supplied included; Union Bins, Eco Bins, Vision Blocks, SSU Shelf units with Bins
